About the project
Why this research exists
California homeowners are facing a confusing insurance market. Carriers are non-renewing policies, premiums are rising sharply, and many homeowners are being directed to the California FAIR Plan or told they need additional DIC or wrap coverage.
The California Fire Insurance Project is an independent research initiative collecting real homeowner experiences so we can understand where coverage is becoming unavailable, unaffordable, or incomplete.
This research project is operated by Adkisson Consulting Services, LLC.
What we are studying
- Where non-renewals and premium increases are happening
- Which homeowners are ending up in the FAIR Plan
- Whether homeowners can find DIC or wrap coverage
- How insurance problems affect home purchases, escrows, and mortgages
- Whether wildfire mitigation steps are helping homeowners regain options
What we are not
This is not an insurance agency. We do not offer quotes, recommend policies, bind coverage, or sell insurance. We are not affiliated with the California FAIR Plan, the California Department of Insurance, CAL FIRE, or any insurance company.

We publish anonymized themes and aggregated findings as the research grows. We do not publish personally identifiable information without express permission.
